The School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology is a top-tier engineering program in the US. We are the largest mechanical engineering program in the US, graduate more than 2 percent of the ME’s in the country. We need top graduate students and faculty to enable our continued improvement. My purpose in this talk is to inform you about Georgia Tech and our School of ME, introduce our research programs and opportunities for graduate students, and to encourage you to consider Georgia Tech for your graduate studies.
Our School has a wide range of world-class research programs. Our faculty and students pursue advances in research that define the frontiers of engineering, support economic growth, improve quality of life, and contribute to sustainability. Specific research groups include: Acoustics and Dynamics; Automation and Mechatronics; Bioengineering; Computer-Aided Engineering and Design; Fluid Mechanics; Heat Transfer, Combustion and Energy Systems; Manufacturing; MicroElectroMechanical Systems; Mechanics of Materials; and Tribology. In Nuclear and Radiological Engineering, the areas are Fission, Fusion, Medical Physics, and Radiological Engineering. Our facilities and resources are the best among US ME programs. We offer a diverse array of degree options and courses to enable graduate students to customize their best educational experience.
BIOSKETCH
David Rosen is a Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. As part of his Associate Chair duties, he is responsible for recruiting graduate students, overseeing their progress through their graduate studies, and managing graduate degree programs and curricula. In his role as a faculty member, Dr. Rosen is Director of the Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing Institute at Georgia Tech. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts in 1992 in mechanical engineering. His research interests include computer-aided design, additive manufacturing, and design methodology. He has industry experience, working as a software engineer at Computervision Corp. and a Visiting Research Scientist at Ford Research Laboratories. He is a Fellow of ASME and recently served on the ASME Computers and Information in Engineering Division Executive Committee.
